Artist Statement: This piece is made out of copper and nickel, with hand soldered jump rings, and casting beads for accents. In addition there is texturing of the metal, and all the piece was domed. It was fairly difficult to solder some of the domed pieces on.

Northern Lights

Artist Statement: This piece is made out of copper and brass. The northern lights have been enameled to create a more realistic design, and the cabin has been lined with copper wire dipped in liver of sulfur. The moose was lightly torched to add color as well as contrast. This piece was inspired by nights spent at my cabin on the Chatanika River.

Five Year Old’s Promise

Artist Statement: When I was five years old I had told my dad that I would get him a float plane when I got old enough to have my own real job; so for my dad’s birthday this year, I decided to make his float plane. Of course, it was not exactly what he had in mind but loved it all the same.

When I started this project I had to collect as many butter knifes as I could, and I knew that I would needs lots. I welding the body of the plane together first. Once that was shaped the way I wanted, I moved to the wings, then the floats and then on to the finishing of the propeller and ended with the completed project. All I needed was a game plan. Once I had that it just came together they why I had envisioned it.
