Motorcycle

April 4, 2019 ASAA

Title of Art Piece: Motorcycle
Category: Communication Arts / Graphic Design – 2019
Student/Artist’s Name: Seinna Schaeffer
School: Valdez High School
Grade: 12th
Artist Statement:

I have been working with digital art for a while now and am still learning. I have been mostly using digital, but I do wish to perfect other mediums as well. Right now I am mainly focused on trying to perfect a style I like doing and can work with. Once I am comfortable with my style I plan to better the point I’m weaker at, like coloring and shading. I don’t usually work with much color, but I have been trying incorporate that into my work be that a success or failure. Most of my works don’t contain too much detail and are more of a cartoon look; although, I do plan to hopefully work on that more in the future. I am at a point where I am looking to others for inspiration for my work. I really want to make art because it’s another way of expressing.

Student/Artist’s Name: Macy Hansen
School: Valdez High School
Grade: 11th

At the time I was drawing this piece, I was struggling with a few things in my life. As I continued to draw I realized that the black background is all the things I struggle with, and the colorful flower growing out of it shows that anyone can over come anything.

Mad

April 4, 2019 ASAA

Title of Art Piece: Mad
Category: Communication Arts / Graphic Design – 2019
Student/Artist’s Name: Riley Hoppe
School: Valdez High School
Grade: 12th
Artist Statement:

I am very drawn to digital paintings; though I feel I am amateur at creating digital art, I still love to try my best to get to where I am happy with it. I love how soft and detailed digital paintings can be. I find it very peaceful, in a way, to look at it.
I have done plenty of traditional and detailed line art for my breadth section of my portfolio. Done with watercolor markers, prismacolor markers, touchfive markers, and prismacolor liner pens. My concentration is on my digital work, such as icons and full body characters, as well as design concepts for specific use. They are created on MediBang Paint Pro either on a laptop or a tablet.

Art is always going to be challenging, even with artists pieces in their concentration. It is easy getting out pieces with something in mind; but, when expected at a deadline, it takes time to prepare. My challenges with the breadth pieces I was working on was controlling the water color.

Wolf

April 17, 2019 ASAA

(3rd Place – Communication Arts / Graphic Design)

Title of Art Piece: Wolf
Category: Communication Arts / Graphic Design – 2019
Student/Artist’s Name: Billy Her
School: East Anchorage High School
Grade: 9th
Artist Statement:

What really inspired me to make this piece was where I lived the majority of my life. I chose a wolf as my piece because I really like and adore wolves. Learning how to make the words fit and choosing the right words was challenging. I wanted to portray that wolves are independent and strong. The process of this whole thing was pretty though. Overcoming most of the obstacles completing this piece was challenging. I learn how to use photoshop and most of the basics about it. I’ve also learned that hard work and time brings out something beautiful.
