1st Place – Jewelry / Metalsmithing
School: Palmer High School
Grade: 11th
I made this pendent at home while experimenting with different wires and teaching myself new techniques to wrap stones and other small objects. The stone is held in a cage made of weaved 18 gauge and 28 gauge wires and kept in place by the hammered ends of the 18 gauge wire. I hung the pendent on a leather cord and made slip knots so the length can be adjusted. This is my first piece trying to hammer the aluminum wires and I think that pounding out the spiral really gives the pendant a really interesting look.
